Celebrate 100 years of International Women's Day at Avoca Beach Picture Theatre!
As you know next week begins International Women's Day, and it is it’s 100TH BIRTHDAY!
Women from across the Coast have been working away on a very special event for a night of celebration, support and encouragement, calling it THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY MULTI MEDIA SPECTACULAR!
What the group have come up with is a HUGE NIGHT!
With everything from African drumming to the amazing Signing Choir (from the hearing impaired), fast paced live stage performances, specially made IWD films, the very talented Kim Cannon on harp and guitar, the celebrated play wright Jill Mather to speak, a collection from the Women at Work and Play art exhibition and works for sale from local artisans! All with the theme of celebrating women!
To finish the evening and to encourage us all - MADE IN DAGENHAM. “Just when you thought the world was going to be changed by governments & committees, along comes a reminder that almost all significant change through history has been largely through the drive, conviction and energy of individuals. MADE IN DAGENHAM tells us how a young mother and her workmates helped change the course of industrial relations history - and working women's lives in the process. It's a perfect example of an ordinary woman doing extraordinary things! This will be a night of celebration, support and encouraging each other to better things.
There’s a gift for everyone who comes as a special reminder of what has been achieved for women in the past 100 years, and to spur us on daily to improve woman’s situations at home and around the world.
Very special T Shirts celebrating women and the 100th Birthday event will also be available.
It’s Saturday 12th March with drinks on the lawn from 6.30pm; tickets for this full night out just $16.50, or groups of 10 or more $15ea.
